It is Tom Riley's 44th birthday today! Sending him huge love and best wishes for a fabulous day. Join us today, as we have done since 2008, in sending him much love, hoping this birthday is full of joy, and full of cake.
We are very much looking forward to seeing Tom on Apple TV some time this year in Down Cemetery Road, which is now in post production.
And really exciting news announced very recently on Deadline, was of Tom Riley and Lizzy Caplan's production company, Westborn Pictures, which seems to have had a re-launch. Westborn Pictures was behind Tom's directorial debut The Toll Road. The production company is now behind a new drama series for Netflix, which Lizzy will star in, as well as many other projects in various stages of development. It would seem that Tom may be more behind the scenes than in front of camera in the near future.
Two-time Emmy-nominee Lizzy Caplan (Fleishman is in Trouble, Zero Day) and BAFTA award winner Tom Riley (The Nevers, The Woman in the House Across The Street From The Girl in the Window), have launched Westborn Pictures production company. Under the banner, the husband-wife duo will develop, produce, write and direct content for film and television.
“We couldn’t decide between starting this company or having another (human) baby. Ultimately we opted for the company, but have leaned into a ‘soothing nursery aesthetic’ for all office space. We are thrilled to be teaming up with so many extraordinary partners in order to fulfill the company’s remit of developing character-driven, messy stories that ask the viewer to seek out nuance at a time when it’s most under threat,” Caplan and Riley said in a joint statement.
