US Tom Riley fans have a treat to look forward to. According to Variety and Deadline, Dark Heart will be coming to BritBox. Just scroll past the excitement of the Piers Morgan news if you can, to find the announcement from today's TCAs. BritBox is a BBC/ITV streaming service for audiences in the US and Canada.
AMC is a minority shareholder in Britbox alongside ITV and BBC Studios, the U.K. pubcaster’s commercial arm. ITV said this week that the SVOD service garnered 250,000 subs in the twelve months since its launch last spring, and is on track to double that number in its sophomore year. At its TCA presentation it also announced a raft of drama programming, including a new original, “Dark Heart.” An adaptation of Adam Creed’s Will Wagstaffe detective novels. It will air on ITV in the U.K. and stars Tom Riley (“Da Vinci’s Demons”) as Wagstaffe.
No date for broadcast of Dark Heart on ITV or BritBox has yet been announced. The 6 part adaptation of Adam Creed's crime thriller novels finished filming in London in May 2018, with Tom Riley reprising the lead role as DI Will Wagstaffe following the 2016 pilot.
