I have been searching and checking daily for months, waiting for an announcement of a new project for Tom Riley. And finally we have some great news. Tom's name has been added to a fabulous cast list for a new Apple TV series "Down Cemetery Road", playing the role of Mark. The series is an adaptation of a Mick Herron novel.

Apple TV+‘s thriller series Down Cemetery Road, based on the book from Slow Horses‘ Mick Herron, has added 10 to its cast.

Newcomers include BAFTA winner Adeel Akhtar (Fool Me Once), Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Femme), Emmy nominee Tom Goodman-Hill (Baby Reindeer), BAFTA winner Darren Boyd (Trying), Tom Riley (The Woman in the House), SAG Award nominee Adam Godley (The Great), Sinead Matthews (Hullraisers), Ken Nwosu (The Winter King), Fehinti Balogun (A Gentleman in Moscow) and Aiysha Hart (We Are Lady Parts).

As previously announced, Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson lead the ensemble. Akhtar will play Hamza, with Stewart-Jarrett as Downey, Goodman-Hill as Gerard, Boyd as C., Riley as Mark, Godley as Joe Silverman, Matthews as Denise (aka Wigwam), Nwosu as Rufus, Balogun as Amos, and Hart as Paula.

Apple TV announced the series in April 2024, and according to The Bristol Tab, cast and crew were seeing filming in and around Bristol in June 2024. This month further filming has been seein in Bristol, and reported on Twitter.

Apple TV+ announced new thriller series “Down Cemetery Road,” starring and executive produced by Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Emma Thompson (“Good Luck to You, Leo Grande,” “Sense and Sensibility”) who plays struggling Oxford private eye Zoë Boehm, alongside Golden Globe and two-time Olivier Award winner Ruth Wilson (“Luther,” “The Affair,” “His Dark Materials”) as Sarah Tucker, who becomes obsessed with the whereabouts of a child she believes to have gone missing. Morwenna Banks (“Funny Woman,” “Miss You Already,” “Slow Horses”) serves as lead writer and executive producer.

“‘Down Cemetery Road’ has all the hallmarks of Mick Herron’s funny and acerbic writing, and I’m delighted we will be bringing it to life for Apple TV+ with such a stellar cast,” said Jay Hunt, creative director, Europe, Apple TV+. “Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson will make it an unmissable companion piece for ‘Slow Horses’ on our service.” When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbor Sarah Tucker becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm. Zoë and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.

The series is executive produced by Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta and Tom Nash at 60Forty Films, alongside executive producers Banks, Thompson and “Down Cemetery Road” author Mick Herron. Natalie Bailey (“Audrey,” “Bay of Fires,” “Run”) serves as lead director for the series.
